Undressing Superbike is not easy and even less, decrease more docile horses for motorcycles. In the case of the MT-10 it has been achieved thanks to the internal renewal of the motor by 40%. Light and materials are expensive, plus special technology elements removed. All this to change the character and adjust the price: € 5,000 less than the YZF-R1.
Yamaha already has positioned itself with its first model MT-01 and MT-03 and its initial sales leaders MT-07 and MT-09.
The story goes to another level course with the MT-10, a sportier and prestacional motorcycle through their much higher figures: 160 hp at 11,500 rpm and torque at 9,000 rpm 111 Nm, with a curb weight of 190 kg.
A power obtained thanks to the engine CP4 with its draft of crankshaft 90, directly derived from the YZF-R1 2015 and which also shares the base of the chassis and suspension. But in this case the Cross-plane line 4-cylinder has been tuned to provide maximum torque at low and medium. This has been achieved thanks to the new design of the cylinder head and a compression of 12: 1 (13: 1 for R1) obtained by varying the shape of the combustion chamber and piston.
